PREPARATION PATHWAY
Grades 8th, 9th, 10th
This is where the journey begins! CORE Academy places students in traditional, high-rigor high school courses, with an emphasis on preparing students for their accelerated academic journey.
CORE Academy students have the opportunity to take pre-college classes that prepare them to earn college credit. The high school staff provides wraparound support to smoothly transition students into the other Micro-Academies.

CORE Academy Placement Requirements
Academically On-Track
- No more than two credits below grade level OR actively participating in remediation or credit recovery opportunities.
Pathways
- Students will be enrolled in credit-bearing high school courses for 90% or their schedule.
- Focus will be on successful achievement on state-required LEAP tests.
- Students must attempt the Accuplacer tests minimum of one time per semester until a passing score is achieved.
- In addition to high school coursework, students will also be required to take the following Baton Rouge Community College courses:
- Preparing for College Careers
- Career Exploration (dual credit)
Attendance and Behavior
- In good standing with the policies specified in the Student and Family Handbook.
